Education: Enhancing and expanding current local schools and new school construction to reduce overcrowding is Marty's main focus in the area of education. He is dedicated to making education more user-friendly for students, parents and teachers, regularly meets with Parent Teacher Association's and hosts Education Town Hall meetings.

Taxes: Marty helped cut the state sales tax on gasoline by 4 cents per gallon, voted to provide millions of dollars in property tax relief, and voted to end the state sales tax on clothing over $100. He wants to continue cutting the tax burden for middle class New Yorkers wherever possible.

Crime: Civil confinement of violent sexual predators is the most important issue facing New York in the next few years. Marty Golden will continue to aggressively fight to get this legislation signed into law, so we can protect women and children. As a former Police Officer, he knows how important it is to keep our communities safe.

Seniors: As Chairman of the Senate Aging Committee, Marty wants to promote a lifestyle of independence, dignity and choice for New York's seniors. Marty wants to lower prescription drug prices by allowing NYS to make bulk purchases of drugs -- just like items sold at Costco -- using private funds from pharmacies, and making those lower cost drugs available to seniors through their local pharmacies.

Bay Ridge
NYC's Dept. of Homeless Services will send outreach teams to Bay Ridge to help homeless individuals at several sites around the community. Earlier this month, Marty, Vito Fossella and CB10 Chair Craig Eaton asked DHS to target eight sites in Bay Ridge where homeless have been recently congregating.

Marty has announced that the Transit Authority has responded to his request seeking  service adjustments on the B-16 bus route and that they will  take  effect in January 2007 to better reflect traffic patterns along the route. The  B-16 bus route begins at 4th Avenue and Shore Road and continues through Borough Park and Kensington and the route ends at Prospect-Lefferts Gardens.

Special Permits, which may affect zoning, can change the density and character of local neighborhoods. Marty Golden is keeping a vigilant eye on this situation, and the effect it has on local quality of life for residents throughout this community and the borough of Brooklyn.
